EVE Power’s Vice President’s speech and company plans to achieve carbon neutrality

Vice President Stephen Chen gave a speech on the 11th China International Energy Storage Conference that mainly discussed about peak carbon emission and carbon neutrality in the energy storage industry. He also gave an idea to the listeners about how their company is tackling the said topics.

He shared that the company president, President Xi, has a goal of letting China achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, which is also the direction the company is taking for the next 3 to 4 decades. Studies show that high carbon indexes are relatively observed in industrial, electricity and transportation sectors, which will be the key points of their future projects to minimize carbon emissions. They are aiming to build a lithium battery platform that has the ability to support energy storage.

In his speech, he discussed the construction of what they call “Energy Internet” on all three layers, namely physical, data and operational. This is expected to be a trend once established, can be achieved through management of information and electricity. EVE established platform-based lithium battery solution with three different routes such as primary lithium battery, energy storage battery and consumer battery. The primary batteries, or ER (lithium thionyl chloride) are widely used for smart meter’s data collection, photovoltaic panel (PV) bracket make use of 18,650 batteries to track down energy supply, while LFP cells (lithium iron phosphate) are used generally for grid energy storage.

He also discussed of the plans on how to lower the cost of a lithium battery-powered storage system, which is very critical if we consider using it commercially. Their target is to increase the life cycle of the energy storage cell, in which their goal is to reach at least 0.15 RMB or 0.023 USD per kWh of energy storage system.

He also discussed how the batteries are made and how many safety protocols and verification are done to ensure the safety of each item. He boasted that the production system follows at least 2,800 quality protocols to ensure the quality and reliability of each product, granting assurance to consumers and prospects.
